Arapaho has had a formal corporate responsibility policy for over three years. We commissioned an ecological survey of our site, monitored use of consumables and implemented a recycling policy. We have investigated the viability of wind turbine power generation and are keeping this under review.
Arapaho CR Policy
Even a small company has an impact on society. The directors of Arapaho are committed to high and continually improving standards of corporate responsibility (CR). There are four areas that we feel are particularly significant for us:
Environmental responsibility
We will consider and manage our impact on the environment, the four principal issues for us being energy consumption, business travel, the use and disposal of materials and our contribution to the rural habitats surrounding our premises. Specifically, we will
- Comply with environmental legislation
- Train our employees concerning our environmental impacts and their role in managing them;
- Measure and continually improve our environmental performance;
- Communicate openly outside the company on our environmental progress;
- Work with our clients to ensure we meet their environmental standards and requirements.
Our long-term aim is to set a benchmark for rural businesses by ensuring that we have no environmental footprint: seeking positive options to contribute to the environment to offset our inevitable impacts.
Social responsibility
We are completely reliant on the talent and skills of our employees for the success of our business. We will treat our employees with respect and reward them in a fair way, ensuring that they have equal opportunity and access to training and development, whilst providing a safe and health workplace. We will act in a way that allows us to become part of the local community and, where practicable, we will source materials from local suppliers.
Ethical behaviour
Our reputation is a valuable asset, and we therefore expect all our employees to behave in an ethical and responsible manner when dealing with clients and suppliers. We will always honour the promises that we make and treat information provided to us in confidence. We will not offer inducements, nor will we promise what we cannot realistically deliver.
Supplier selection
Where we have relationships with suppliers, we will encourage them work to a similar set of standards and values as ourselves. As a minimum, our suppliers with comply with all legislation relevant to them (such as health and safety and employment regulations) and will treat all client related information provided to them as confidential.
Implementing this policy
As a communications business, we understand it is important ensure good communication with our stakeholders on matters relating to CR and we will discuss these issues with interested parties.
Overall responsibility for CR rests with Richard Guy. Richard is also responsible for implementing this policy, and ensuring that it is reviewed at least annually. In each of these areas we will set objectives and targets which will be reviewed annually. In addition, as our business grows, our issues may change and hence we will review this policy regularly to ensure its relevance.
